¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ announced that beginning next year, Juneteenth will be officially observed as a University holiday. Members of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ also participated in the Say Their Names project, the University is part of the White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge, and ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ for You is still accepting applicants. After an extensive national search, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ has named Kimberley Buster-Williams as its new Vice President for Enrollment Management. She will start on Jan. 3.
 

The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Foundation will host its 49th annual Chuck Kane Scholarship Golf Event next week! ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program will now offer two concentrations—Public Health Promotion and School Health—beginning Fall 2021. Additionally, Northeastern’s Master of Social Work program added a specialization in School Social Work and the Master of Business Administration program added seven concentrations: General Business, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Global/International Business, Information Technology and Public Health. 

Forty years ago, the Commission on the Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) hearings were held on Northeastern’s Main Campus. This week, Northeastern will commemorate the anniversary of the hearings with a special Japanese American Redress Conference, which will feature artists, activists and scholars from across the country to examine the significance and influence of the CWRIC hearings as well as how racism continues to impact non-white Americans. Northeastern also named Kamau Rashid as Founding Director of the Ed.D. in Urban Education and Latinx/o/a Heritage Month is underway. ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ is pleased to welcome its new Executive Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Dr. Shireen Roshanravan. ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ is also excited to announce a new partnership with four other Illinois schools to create a more diverse and equitable data science workforce through the Metropolitan Chicago Data-science Corps. When U.S. Rep. Luis Gutiérrez chose not to seek reelection in 2018, he donated his Congressional archives to ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. The Luis V. Gutiérrez Congressional Archives, which contain 41 linear feet of documents, awards, letters and other paraphernalia, is now available for online viewing.

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ has awarded tenure and promotions to associate professor to nine members of the faculty, who were introduced during the April 15 Board of Trustees meeting.

On Nov. 18, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Board of Trustees approved the renewal and expansion of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ For You scholarship!
